Graphene Research Topics
In last ten year our group involved in graphene research with emphasis on the synthesis, characterization, and application of graphene and related 2 D materials made substantial contributions to understanding their properties, engineering new graphene-based materials and their products to addressing challenging technological, environmental, sustainability, energy and health problems.
Some of notable research topics include:
- Synthesis Graphene-Based Nanocomposites
Our team embarked on graphene research in 2014 to support local exploration efforts in South Australia exploring how graphene can be incorporated into different materials and develop novel hybrid and nanocomposite to enhance their properties for broad applications.
- Complementary methods for graphene characterization
Developing and validation of new complementary methods for characterization properties of graphene materials and their quality control
- Graphene Enhanced Protective Coatings
Exploring how graphene barrier properties can be used for development new generation of protective coating for fire protection, anticorrosion, antibiofouling, antibacterial, self-cleaning, modified atmospheric packaging etc.
- Graphene Adsorbents for Environmental Remediation
Developing broad range of graphene-based adsorbents with different chemistries, composition and structures for removal of emerging environmental pollutants such as heavy metals, dyes, PFAS, pharmaceuticals and spilled oil.
- Graphene for Decarbonisation of Cement Industry
Exploring and demonstration of graphene additives for improving concrete performances and reducing their environmental impact.
- Emerging Application and Sustainability
Exploring graphene and 2Dmaterais for electromagnetic (EMI), radiation and sound shielding.
- Developing advanced energy storage devices
Development of new architectures of graphene based electrodes for high performing hybrid supercapacitors and energy storage
- Sensors and Electronics
Developing advanced sensors, micro antennas and electronic devices using graphene due to its exceptional sensing, electrical and thermal conductivity
